The yearbook publishes articles on the history of music and the preservation of musical monuments in Bavaria. In addition to music-historical themes, contemporary composers are also regularly presented with their works. Each issue also contains a section "New Organs in Bavaria" as well as reviews of books and recordings.

The journal, previously published by Prof. Dr. Hans Schneider, Tutzing, has been published since yearbook 78 by Allitera Verlag, Munich. Society members receive the magazine free of charge.
